The technical training seminars organized by Bartın University’s Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, in collaboration with FİGES and MathWorks, were held on December 4, 2025, and drew strong participation. Focusing on MATLAB, Simulink, FPGA design, and model-based design, the event aimed to enhance the competencies of students and academic staff in the use of engineering software tools.

The morning session was delivered by Customer Success Engineer Silvan Schwaller. In the training titled “Core License Content and Basic MATLAB,” the tools included within the MATLAB Campus License were introduced. Participants gained hands-on experience with fundamental programming topics, including variable definition, matrix operations, decision structures, and loops.

In the afternoon session, Embedded Systems Engineer Emre İşsever delivered a presentation titled “FPGA with MATLAB.” He shared insights on the use of HDL Coder, automatic HDL code generation, and Simulink-based hardware-compatible modeling processes. The practice-oriented training attracted considerable interest from students interested in FPGA design.

The final session was conducted by Systems Modeling and Control Engineer Aylin Edgü. In the training titled “Model-Based Design in the MathWorks Ecosystem,” the advantages of model-based design for engineering processes were explained through practical examples using Simulink, Simscape, and Stateflow tools. Example studies on dynamic system modeling and decision-logic design were also conducted.

The all-day event received significant interest from Bartın University students and academic staff. The seminars, which aimed to contribute to engineering education, highlighted the importance of MATLAB and the MathWorks ecosystem in solving real-world engineering problems.

At the end of the event, participants had the opportunity to speak directly with the presenting engineers and ask questions about how these software tools can be used in academic studies and industry.
