As part of the Disaster-Ready University initiative, the “Disaster Awareness Training” organized by the Bartın Provincial Directorate of Disaster and Emergency Management was held on March 3, 2026, in the Library Building Conference Hall with the participation of our faculty’s students and staff. The training was organized to contribute to raising conscious and prepared individuals against disasters.
During the training delivered by personnel from the Bartın Provincial Directorate of Disaster and Emergency Management, participants were provided with comprehensive information on individual preparedness for disasters and emergencies, precautions to be taken before a disaster, appropriate behavior during a disaster, and the actions required after a disaster. The importance of increasing public awareness and social consciousness regarding disasters was also emphasized.
The program, which was followed with great interest by the participants, underlined that making correct and rapid decisions in disaster situations is of vital importance. It was also stated that educating students as individuals who are aware of disasters would make a significant contribution to social resilience. Certificates of participation were presented to the students and staff who attended the training program.
At the end of the program, appreciation was extended to the personnel of the Bartın Provincial Directorate of Disaster and Emergency Management for their contributions to the training, and a certificate of appreciation was presented by our Dean, Prof. Dr. Handan Ucun Özel. The event was completed successfully and proved productive in terms of raising disaster awareness and helping participants develop appropriate response skills.
