Bartin is a small city located in the west of Blacksea region of Turkey and its population is around 200000. Its name is originated from Bartin River flowing through the city, whose name was "Parthenios" in the archaic age. This small city, which has four districts, has a rich geography in terms of both sea tourism and nature tourism. Especially Amasra is one of the most famous holiday destinations in Turkey, which a lot of domestic and foreign tourists visits every summer season.

Bartin is also one of the best trip points for nature lovers; e.g. it is covered by nice forests, vegetation, and springs (See the third figure for Ulukaya Waterfall).
Bartin is located nearby Istanbul (is the biggest city of Turkey) and Ankara (is the capital of Turkey), and the only transportation from those city to Bartin is via coaches or vehicles. It takes 6 and 4 hours to arrive Bartin from Istanbul and Ankara by coaches, respectively. For this reason, visitors who want to visit our department, can fly to Istanbul and Ankara, and then they can take a coach or rent a car. There are several coach services in every day.
